In collaboration with Willis Kusuma Architects and Hadi Komara & Associates, we create a distinctive spatial experience, contemporary approach is taken when integrating materials found in street food vendor tents such as tarp, steel rod, concrete, and plywood to the installation.
The journey starts and ends with ‘Sudi Mampir, Pamit Mundur’, an allocated hallway part of the installation accompanying guests with sounds of busy streets. Guests are then greeted with ‘Silent Koplo’, a musical ground provided with headsets for guests to put on that are connected to Pemuda Sinarmas on a compact DJ set with compiled old-timey Indonesian songs in koplo style. ‘Ngamen Gratis’ follows as a set of interactive sound installation which guests are welcome to experiment with sounds using installed cutlery. ‘Kios Kaos & Keychain Kustom’ then inspires guests to customize their own keychains and tees. An allocated selfie spot then greets guests, ‘Gang Selfie’, a hallway covered in modern yet vernacular graphics.
‘Ngamen Gratis’ is an interactive sound installation in collaboration with Seeds Motion, taking inspirations from street vendors. A setup of objects commonly found in street food vendors such as wok, the iconic rooster bowls, large sweet soy sauce bottles, and cutlery. Each object is supported by conductive paint and when touched, the sounds produced from each object inspire guests to compose their street-vendor-inspired music.
