The East Corridor inspired us with the idea of the east where the sun rises and forged the idea of the rise of Indonesia sports. The sculptural greeting also associates the sun as the representation of the breath of life and the new spark ignited in sports, felt not only by our athletes but also by everyone across the nation.
Combining artistic elements of dots and lines in an abstract gesture, the graphic concept of the sculptures was designed to create a dynamic impression while integrating the diverse motif of Wastra, Indonesian traditional textiles, from Eastern Indonesia onto the floor. The result is 12 bronze-finished sculptures of tri-fold metal plates varying in height, from 3,5 m to 6 m, with shapes that respond to the gesture of the sports, planted in an amphitheater setting and their heights rising as visitors are guided towards the stadium, greeting visitors with the festivity and diversity of sports celebrated in Indonesia.
